Wedding inspiration... something blue...

With all the weddings we went to last year, we have plentyof photos and the wedding ones work so well with this gorgeous Bo BunnyEnchanted range, so I wasn’t short of photographic inspiration!

This week I bring you a page with a blue twist….. try usinga different colour as your base for the layout and incorporate the black andwhite elements into it.

For this layout, I have used the patterned paper and addedadditional elements with the chipboard shapes and stickers and given them alift by using magic mount of the back of them. It just helps to add that extradimension.

You & I - Lily Bee Head Over Heels Step by Step

A late post tonight, as I've been unwelll for a couple of days, but want to share this cute little layout with you, using the Lily Bee Head Over Heels collection, along with the We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tool.

The We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy has been on the market for a little while now, and WRMK have just kept on bringing out different interchangeable heads for this tool making it really versatile. For today's project however, I decided to use just the original head that comes with the main tool. The WRMK Sew Easy also comes with a needle, which has its own nifty hiding hole, in the handle, so you never have to search for another needle. You can see it in the picture below.

To create the base of my layout, I used my Marvy Scalloped Circle punch, and randomly punched some circles from my Lily Head Over Heels patterned papers. I adhered these scalloped circles in a 3x3 Grid.

Using the Sew Easy Mat, I layed my layout onto it and used the grid lines on the mat to guide where I would roll my sew easy tool. I can't believe how quick and easy the Sew Easy Tool made piercing the holes ready to be handstitched. I just rolled the tool along my cardstock with only a small amount of pressure.

The picture below, shows how well the Sew Easy pierces the holes, there was no need to go and repierce them.

Using the needle provided and some embroidery thread from my stash I handstitched along the lines which I had pierced with the Sew Easy tool. I had created a lined grid between the punched scalloped circles.

Below, is my layout with all the stitching complete. I like how it just adds a little more visual interest and texture to my layout.

To finish off my layout, I added my photos, some 2 Crafty Chipboard Heart Banners which were inked and spritzed with Glimmermist, and finished off with the remaining embroidery thread to tie the heart banners together.

I hope you liked todays technique based step by step and give it a go. I think you will be seeing a bit more sewing my pages, as the Sew Easy makes it... well.... so easy to handstitch on my layouts.

I hope you have enjoyed the Love inspiration over the pastfew weeks. Just in time for Valentines Day, this is my last page using the EchoPark Yours Truly range and I bring you step by step to pull this page together.

Firstly, you will need to head over to the online Scraploot store to get you started with your supplies.

Here is the finished product…

Now to get you started…

1. Start with your cardstock for your base. Youwill need to ink the edges of this and cut a 6 ¼ x 4 ¼ inch photo mat from themiddle of it (or purchase 2 sheets to save you having to cut into the basesheet). Foam mount your photo mat.

2. From the heart side of the “Sweetheart” paper,cut a 19cm x 19cm square. Distress and ink. Place 4cm from the top and 2cm fromthe right edge of the cardstock.

3. From the dotted side of the “Adore”, cut a piece9cm wide x 18cm high. Distress and ink. Place 2cm from the left and 2.5cm fromthe bottom edge of the cardstock.

4. From the black swirl side of the “Smitten”paper, cut a piece 2.5cm wide x 5cm high. Distress and ink. Place 2.5cm fromthe right and 15cm from the top edge of the cardstock.

5. From the pink side of the “Newsprint” paper, cuta piece 6cm wide x 7.5cm high. Distress and ink. Place 2.5cm from the right and3cm from the bottom edge of the cardstock.

6. From the dotted side of the “Adore”, cut a piece13cm wide x 7cm high. Distress and ink. Place 8cm from the right and 2.5cm fromthe bottom edge of the cardstock.

7. From the dotted side of the “Crush” paper, cut apiece 5cm wide x 11cm high. Distress and ink. Place 4cm from the right and 14cmfrom the top edge of the cardstock.

8. From the “Journal Cards” paper, cut the redbracketed card with the text around it. Ink the edges. Place 4.5cm from theright and 9cm from the top edge of the cardstock.

9. From the pink side of the “Smitten” paper, cut apiece 5.5cm wide x 29cm high. Distress and ink. Place 5cm from the left edgeand place against the bottom edge of the cardstock.

10. Using the black lace, cut a 20cm piece of lace. Placealong the bottom edge of the papers. Align with the left edge of your dottedpiece from step #3.

11. Take the city skyline from the sticker sheet andplace above the lace.

12. Place your photo mat above this sticker(approximately 6.5cm from the left and 11.5cm from the top edge of yourcardstock).

13. Using foam mount, take your large white Bellaflower and place 2 steps of magic mount on it. Place on the bottom left cornerof your photo. Taking 2 pink Green Tara flowers, tuck slightly underneatheither side of your white flower. Finish the cluster with 2 2Crafty flourishes.Ink and finish with Glossy Accents.

14. Using your fleur de lis chipboard, ink and placein the bottom right corner of the paper from step #9. Finish with glossyaccents.

15. Taking your sticker sheet, use the key and placedown the right side of your photo. Taking the “All Because of You” sticker,place on the right hand side of your flowers. Take the grey ticket and journal,placing it on the top left edge of your photo.

16. From the “Journal Cards”, cut out the “Love” and“To my heart” rectangles. Ink the edges and foam mount. Staggering them, placeunderneath your photo.

17. Finally, back to your sticker sheet, take the “Iwill always love you” shaped sticker. Mount with foam mount and place to thetop right of your photo.

On the first Saturday of the month we will be announcing a new challenge that will run for the entire month, giving you lots of time to get your entries in. Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings - Angel

Hi Everyone !
I'm back at work today, so I hope this has posted...
Today I bring you a sweet, simple layout using the lovely Kaisercraft Sweet Nothings range.
I also bring you an easy step x step for tying that perfect bow for your layouts (and, as seen on the layout below).

A close up of all the brilliant diecuts that come with this collection. I found it very easy to "build up" my layout with the different pieces.

How to tie a good looking bow...

Step 1: Fold 2 separate loops from the end of your ribbon. You will find it easier with two hands. I folded my loops first and then had to use one hand so I could take the photograph !

Step 2: Now, just as you would tie shoelaces...cross one loop over the other, creating a "hole" underneath (this is where my index finger is in the photo).

Step 3: Bring the crossed over loop through the hole (again just like shoelaces), and let the loose end go. It will probably flop over to the opposite side, but this is what you want !

Step 4: Pull the loops so that a knot forms in the middle. Don't make it too tight, as there is still plenty of fiddling to be done ! Play with the loops and ends, until you are happy with the look, shape and size of your bow.

Step 5: When you are completely happy, snip the ends of your ribbon to give your bow the finished look !

Christmas Day 2011 Mini Album

A mini album is a great way to use up scrap pieces of paper, ribbon, cardstock, and embellishments !
Here is a Christmas Day 2011 mini album I made using up the last of my October Afternoon Holiday Style DT pack...

And here are just a few detail shots of some of the pages. This was very quick and easy to put together, as I basically just stuck things down as I went, and once a page seemed "finished" or filled, I moved on to the next one.

The photos I have used are quite small. They are "contact sheet" and "passport" size from the Picasa program. The largest photo is wallet size !

As you can see above, I also showed no mercy to some of the word stickers - so that they fit on my pages, I cut them up !

First Day... Head of The Class

Today's scrapping inspiration uses the Little Yellow Bicycle - Head of The Class Collection, and is of course a great collection to get some of those school photos scrapped, but is also versatile enough to enable you to scrap some great boy pages. The layout I am going to share with you today, is a school layout, but you will have to excuse the fact that it has no photos. I have created this page ready to just add the photos when my little man starts school in just a couple of weeks. I have left plenty of room to allow me to fit 2-3 6"x4" portrait photos, or several 2"x3" photos.

Christmas Morning - Michelle

Oh how I have enjoyed scrapping all of this year's Christmas photos !
And it has been so easy with the gorgeous October Afternoon Holiday Style range.
Using up the last pieces of paper and cardstock, I have this layout: Christmas Morning, featuring Jacob.

A close up of the Green Tara Ivory Jute - perfect for tying bows ! And a close up of the chippie iceskate from the OA Holiday Style Miscellany pack, and a few of the word stickers as well.

Here I have used the small word stickers as a version of journaling. I still have quite a few left, and I am working on one final OA Holiday Style project, which I will share when complete !

Step by Step with LYB–Head of the Class

Hello lovely blog readers…. today I am going to share with you a simple, yet effective step by step project using the Little Yellow Bicycle – Head of the Class Collection

To complete this step by step, first pop on over to the Scraploot store and grab the following supplies;

Archival Ink: Jet Black

1/2” circle punch
Step By Step
Take your Geometry/Teal Test Patterned paper, and using your trimmer, cut it to measure 8” x 9”. Ink the edges in the Archival Ink Jet Black. Adhere this piece to your Textured Cardstock White, approximately 1/2” in from the left edge of your cardstock and approximately 2” down from the top edge of your cardstock. Angle this piece up to the right.

Using your trimmer, cut a piece of Dot to Dot/Blue Study Hall patterned paper to measure 9 1/2” x 2”. Ink the edges in Archival Ink Jet Black.
From your Practice Your ABC’s/Green Dot to Dot, cut a strip of alphabet to measure 9 1/2” in length. Ink the edges in Archival Ink Jet Black.
Adhere the Alphabet strip from the Practice Your ABC’s/Green Dot to Dot patterned paper to the centre of your Dot to Dot/Blue Study Hall patterned paper. Now that these two pieces are together, take a pair of scissors and cut the right end to look like a banner as shown in the photograph below.

Adhere this piece to your layout approximately 2 1/4” – 2 1/2” up from the bottom edge of your cardstock, on the same angle as you place the Geometry/Teal Test patterned paper. Leave the “notebook” section of the Geometry/Teal Test patterned paper exposed.
Take your photo and using your Bella Sanding Block, distress the edges of your photo. Adhere your 6” x 4” Portrait photo approximately 3 3/4” in from the left edge of your layout and approximately 2” down from the top edge of your layout. Again, keeping it angled.
Finish of your layout by embellishing it the Clear Cut Shapes, Journal Cards, Stick Pins, Canvas Border Stickers and Twisted Burlap as shown in the photograph below. Below is a close up of the cluster of Journal Cards, Clear Cut Shapes and Stick Pins.

Add your title using your Doodlebug Simply Sweet Ladybug Cardstock Stickers and Alphabet Sticker Sheet and journal onto your Journal Cards.

Welcome to 2012 and a new start to the scrapping year! I hope you all enjoyed your Christmas and New Years celebrations. Over the next few weeks I will be showcasing the gorgeous Yours Truly range from Echo Park.

To start off this week, I have step by step instructions for you for the following layout:

To get started, head over to the Scraploot online store to pick up some supplies!

To recreate this layout, you will need:

Now to get started….

1. Ink the edges of your cardstock.

2. Using the “Honeymoon” paper, striped side up, cut a 26cm x 26cm square. Distress and ink. Place this piece in the middle of your cardstock.

3. Using the “Crush” paper, black flourish side up, cut a 20.5cm long x 5.5cm high rectangle. Distress and ink. Place this piece 4cm from the top of your cardstock and 2.5cm from the right hand edge. From the Sticker Sheet, place the “No 021412” sticker in the top right corner of this piece of paper.

4. Using the “Love Notes” paper, script side up, cut a piece 18cm wide x 20cm high. Distress and ink. Place 7cm from the top and 3.5cm from the right hand side of the cardstock.

5. Using the “Adore” paper, dot side up, cut a piece 11cm wide x 17.5cm high. Distress and ink. Place 9cm from the top and 3cm from the left hand side of the cardstock.

6. Using the “Love Notes” paper, black and white arrow side up, cut a piece 18cm wide x 4cm wide. Distress and ink. Place 6.5cm from the bottom and 5cm from the right hand side of the cardstock.

7. Using the “Newsprint” paper, cut 3 cards out (Handmade Candy, Shoes for Men and Specials of Fine Vacations). Bundle together and fan out and place under the left hand side of your picture. Place your 6”x4” photo 5.5cm from the left hand side and 11.5cm from the top of the cardstock.

8. Take 11cm of the black lace and place it across the bottom of the dotted paper. Stick the key from the Sticker sheet across this.

9. Take the filigree heart sticker from the Sticker Sheet and stick magic mount on the back of it. Adhere in the bottom left hand corner of your page.

10. Take the red framed camera journal tag from the Journal cards paper. Adhere magic mount to the back and stick to the bottom right corner of your page. Journal if desired.

11. Ink the Fleur de lis chipboard and stick under the word Love next to your picture. Finish with Crackle Accents.

12. Stick 3 small hearts down the left hand side of your photo.

13. Using the “Alphabet” sticker sheet, take your desired letters and place above the top right hand side of your photo.

Here are a few ideas for your left overs as well, a few quick and easy cards!

Sitting With Santa - Michelle

Welcome to the New Year !
A quick, late post from me...once again, showcasing October Afternoon Holiday Style.

I have used quite a few techniques in this layout, even though it comes across as relatively simple ! Firstly, I have used a 10 year old photograph - nothing like using up those older photos ! I have also used the May Arts Red Burlap String to make bows for the decorations.

I have used "fussy cutting" to make the decorations and then mounted them using Magic Mount to give them dimension off the page.

I have used lots of different alphas from the alpha sticker sheet and traced around them with a black pen to make them stand out against the green cardstock.

And finally, I added a Prima flower to the journal card to give a 3D effect (there is actually a printed poinsettia on the journal card), and I used the Prima Flower packaging to decorate the chipboard bell !

And now back to scrapping:

This is our 2011 Santa Photo, and what an easy photo to scrap using October Afternoon Holiday Style. I didn't really add much to this layout - the OA City Sidewalks did the hard work for me!

A little bling always looks good on a Christmas layout, and this Zva Creative - Flourish is no exception. I was impressed with how easy it was to use this flourish and remove it from the backing plastic!

It may not snow here for Christmas, but these diecut flakes made a quick and attractive addition to the page. I popped them up with Magic Mount, and as you can see, it added to the overall effect. I also cut up some longer stickers and traced around them to go with the dymo label title.

IMPORTANT TIP: If you intend to submit layouts for publication using professional photographs, you must first seek permission from the photographer and/or company - it's all about copyright ! You should also give credit to the photographer and /or company when displaying layouts in galleries, on blogs or the internet.

Christmas Day Festivities!!

Morning all, Renae here...I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas Day. Before you allask, no I’m not some insane super woman, I prepared these pages ready for thephotos a few days ago lol!

I went all out with the first one for a festive feel. The pic is my hubby and our ever adorable nephew.

I haven’t used Crackle Accents for a while and thought itworked well with this chipboard.

I’ve added a few close ups for you as well….

With the second one, I kept a very basic feel and wanted tofocus on the photo. We gave our nephew a cute little blue rubber duck and then he wouldn't let it go! Forget the rest of the presents after that!

And a quick third one for you as well....another festive feel using the scraps from the last 2 pages and a full sheet of paper as the base instead of cardstock. Yep the gorgeous nephew again.... his mum propped him up in front of the tree and he sat posing for the paparazzi in his Santa hat!
